Sister Gayle M. Clegg, second counselor in the Primary General Presidency, said we must let children know that they are important and that they are loved.

Sister Clegg described her daughter's struggle, and how she found comfort.

She said that when her daughter was young she had difficulties learning Portuguese when the family moved to another country. Sister Clegg said she anguished for her daughter as she went off to school and faced classmates that were rude to her because she did not know the language.

However, her daughter found comfort in a primary song which helped her realize that her Heavenly Father loved her. Though her daughter's troubles did not disappear, she was able to survive school because she knew that she was loved and she found peace in that thought, Sister Clegg said.

Sister Clegg said that at one point of our lives we may feel alienated but we can find comfort in knowing that we are children of God.

She said it is important to let children know that they are known and that they are good.

She said adults can help children, but the children must find their testimonies on their own.

"We need to build children," she said.
