"Seek and ye shall find." Elder Craig C. Christensen likened this suggestion to a long cross-country journey - we know what our destination is, but the learning experiences are during the trip, not at the end.
The same goes for our mortal life. The ultimate destination is mortality, and on the road of life we gain life experiences. In gaining these experiences, we can ask for answers.
When seeking for answers, the first step is to study the question in our minds and hearts. We then present our thoughts to God and ask with a sincere heart and real intent.
Elder Christensen then posed the question of "What shall we seek?" The answer: we need to seek earnestly the best gifts, and lose ourselves in the service of others, seek things that are worthy and lovely, and do away with worldly things.
"As we seek the kingdom of God in all righteousness, we will draw near unto him, and in the end we will find him," Christensen said. The deeper we seek the more we begin to appreciate His role, we can understand His message about salvation, and have a greater appreciation for the atonement.
As we continuously seek for answers, we also gain a testimony of the Lord and His guidance of the church through our prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley, he said. "We can find that He is the life and light of the world."
When we carry out the steps in seeking, we not only gain knowledge of the gospel, but also feel the love that the Lord has for us and will want to live our lives according to the commandments, Christensen said. As we work through this process, in the end we will be able to find Him, and gain an inner peace.
