The BYU Bookstore won two separate marketing awards, one for best window display and the other for most creative flier.
The College Store Magazine, a national marketing publication, granted the award to the BYU Bookstore. The Harry Potter window display was prized for its creativity and the ingenuity with which it was created.
"That was one of the most fun windows I ever made because of all the crazy stuff we created," said Alex Morales, BYU Bookstore Creative Services Display Designer.
The creative team said they had fun making torches out of Sprite bottles and columns out of shipping tubes.
"For the 'pensieve,' we made green liquid with smoke coming out of it."
The window display was created for the Harry Potter seventh book release party, which had more than 5,000 people in attendance, according to Rowdy Symons, creative services manager.
The Bookstore was chosen as one of hundreds of submissions nationwide.
Karen L Huntsman, head graphic designer at the BYU Bookstore, won another award for her creation of the 20 percent off graduation sale flier.
Liquid Library, an internationally renowned graphic design magazine granted the award. The magazine accepts entries nationwide in search of innovative and creative marketing techniques.
"I enjoy the whole process of creating flyers," said Huntsman. "It's fun to have a job where you can use your creativity."
