UVSC is holding a rodeo in Heber City as part of the UVUphoria! countdown to the celebration of UVSC becoming Utah Valley University in July.

The rodeo will be at the Wasatch County Events Center at 415 S. 1200 West in Heber, and will feature current and prospective members of the UVU rodeo team, according to a news release.

The rodeo team has won the Rocky Mountain Region title two years in a row, according to a news release.

Every summer, UVSC sponsors events for its staff, said Kirk Young, a member of the advertising committee for the rodeo.

"Our major focus is to celebrate the fact that we're becoming a university," he said.

The rodeo, while being a part of the countdown celebration, is also to support the Heber campus, a satellite of UVSC, Young said.

"It's an opportunity to showcase the rodeo team," he said, as well as introduce them to the community and staff.

Young said they wanted to really involve Wasatch and Summit Counties, as well as Utah County because a lot of their students in Heber are from that area.

Tickets for the rodeo are available to the public for $5, $4 for students and $3 for children ages 2-12. Children under 2 years are free.

Tickets are available at Campus Connection in the Sorensen Center at UVSC's Orem campus, or call (801) 863-8797.
