The BYU women's softball team fared well in their double-header series against Colorado State, losing the first game 2-3, but redeeming themselves in the second game for the 11-6 win Thursday, making this their fourth consecutive 40 win season.

Despite winning the first BYU-CSU series in April, the Cougars were unable to keep their strong footing in the first game.

Christina Gwyn-Trice suffered her seventh loss of the season the first game. She allowed the first two runners on base in the bottom of the first, followed by a three-RBI homer.

BYU's offense made a valid attempt at responding, and sophomore Amanda Vance brought in one run in the top of the third, with senior Emi Snow-Willing bringing in one run during in the fourth.

Despite out hitting the Rams 7-6, BYU was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities and left 10 runners on base throughout the game.

The Cougars had a powerful second game and started off on the right foot immediately, as they scored 2 runs in the first inning, with no errors. The Rams caught up with and even surpassed the Cougar's strong start with four runs in the first inning.

BYU got their big lead in the second inning with four hits, four runs and only one error, thanks in part to Daniela Snow's two RBI's. The Rams started falling behind that inning with only one hit and no runs.

There was little action in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings, as the score at the end of the 5th inning was still 6-4. Both teams combined for a mere two hits all three innings.

The sixth inning was exceptionally strong for the Cougars as they got two more runs, and power pitcher Paige Affleck ended the inning with two quick strikeouts.

The Cougars solidified their lead in the seventh inning with additional runs, putting their final score at 11, and holding the Rams at 6. Krisin Delahoussaye, with one homerun and three RBI's, and Emi SnowWilling, with one hit and one homerun, were instrumental in closing out the game, offensively.

Both games were played on Ram Field in Fort Collins, Colorado. Over 200 people were in the stands for the five-hour double-header to cheer on the Rams and Cougars.

Next the Cougar softball team will travel to New Mexico to take on the New Mexico Lobos for a two-game series extending from Friday to Saturday, both games beginning at 7:00 p.m. MST. The Cougars are currently second in MWC standings.
