Both of the BYU's golf teams are on the green.

The men are competing at the Baylor Intercollegiate tournament until Tuesday, while the women are at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown until Wednesday. Both anticipate representing the Cougars well.

"We are looking forward to getting out and competing again," men's coach Bruce Brockbank said. "It will be fun to go there and be a part of a new event."

Baylor is hosting the Cougars, along with ten other teams such as New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. The men will play at the Royal Oaks Country Club, a long 7,068-yard course.

"The course is really tough," Brockbank said.

In addition to the par-71 course, the Cougars will have to conquer the change of environment.

"It's interesting to go to Texas because it s a different kind of grass," Brockbank said, as he talked about the Bermuda grass in Dallas.

The men are competing with three freshmen in the tournament and will focus on finishing each round well.

"Looking back at our other tournaments," Brockbank said, "we played pretty good at times but didn't finish very well."

The women's golf team is also looking to represent BYU with pride.

Coach Sue Nyhus said the team has been "showing some improvement in the last couple weeks" and she is excited to see how they perform at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.

The three-day tournament, hosted by UNLV, includes Colorado State, No. 6 Oklahoma St, No. 14 Pepperdine, and No. 25 Texas, among others.

"Our fall season is chock full of strong teams," coach Sue Nyhus said.

The Cougars are looking forward to warmer temperatures and a great course to finish their last tournament of the fall.

"Our teams have been practicing really hard," Nyhus said.
