Criminal Trespassing
Nov. 16: Officers responded to a call from residents in Taylor Hall who reported that someone had been in their dorm. One resident's computer had been turned on, and someone had gone through her personal things. Police have received several other similar calls and are currently investigating the matter.
Missing Person
Nov. 16: Police received two calls about Boy Scouts who had wandered off from their group at a Scouting activity on campus. Both Scouts were located; one was reunited with his Scout leader and the other with his mother.
Trespassing
Nov. 15: Police found five males on the intramural field while it was locked and closed to the public. Officers told them to leave.
Theft
Nov. 11: A student reported a bike stolen from near Hinckley Hall. The student determined her bike was stolen in late October.
Nov. 11: Police issued a misdemeanor citation to a female visitor after finding her with merchandise from the Bookstore valuing $220, including shoes and a scripture case. The 44-year-old woman has a history of shoplifting in other locations.
Nov. 11: A student who reported a missing bicycle to Provo Police during the summer found and identified her bike on a bike rack on campus. After verifying that the bike belonged to the student, police cut the lock and returned the bike to the owner. Another student reported that her bike had been stolen, and police determined it was the same bike. The second student bought the bike from a pawnshop recently. The bicycle will remain with the first owner, and the student who bought the bike will have to seek reparations with the pawnshop.
Nov. 12: A bicycle was stolen from outside the Smith Fieldhouse.
Nov. 12: Bookstore security reported seeing a female student enter a dressing room with multiple items and leaving with nothing. Police found the student with four skirts and three books valued at $100 total. The student was issued a citation and the case was submitted to the city for prosecution.
Lost items
Nov. 12: A student reported losing a laptop computer in the Testing Center.
Nov. 13: A student reported a missing laptop computer with important notes from the Harold B. Lee Library.
Nov. 14: A student reported a missing iPod Nano from the periodicals section of the Harold B. Lee Library.
Students can call University Police if they have found any of these items.
Child Neglect
Nov. 14: A three-year-old child was found wandering alone on the track of the Smith Fieldhouse. Police located the mother upstairs working out in a weight room. The case is under further investigation.
Criminal Mischief
Nov. 13: A car driving near Helaman Halls was struck on the windshield by uncooked eggs. The suspects were gone when police arrived.
Suspicious activity
Nov. 12: A suspicious duffel bag was discovered in a landscaped area near the Richards Building. Police discovered that the bag was empty.
Communications issues
Nov. 10: A female student reported receiving an obscene phone call from a man speaking in an accent and identifying himself as "Oscar." Police are investigating the incident.
Nov. 10: Continuing Education received a threatening e-mail from an upset online student in Colorado. In the e-mail, the student said he would kill the recipient and said, "Yes this is a threat." The case is under investigation.
Nov. 11: A student reported that another family member threatened him while they were both attending a funeral. BYU police are investigating because the threatening party said he would come to BYU to find the other family member.
Nov. 16: Police detained a former student after he was found distributing large fliers to professors' mailboxes and offices in the Brimhall Building and Joseph F. Smith Building. The fliers included opinions on gay Mormons and suicide. University policy requires all fliers to be approved by the Dean of Student Life.
Fire
Nov. 10: Students in Foreign Language Student Residence called in a fire in their apartment. One student ran the automatic cleaning cycle on the oven without realizing that another had left a rag in the oven. The apartment received only minor smoke damage.

If you receive an obscene, threatening or harassing phone call, do not respond in any manner to the caller. Hang up immediately and notify the University Police.
