Theft
Jan. 8: Three textbooks valued at $300 were stolen from a student's locker on the fifth floor of the library. The victim said sometimes the latch doesn't close on the locker. Police didn't find any signs of damage to the locker.
Jan. 9: A student reported a stolen laptop, mouse and checkbook while he was studying on the fifth floor of the library.
Jan. 10: Clothing valued at $1500 was stolen from the laundry mat in Wymount Terrace. The stolen clothing included children's clothing, bath towels and adult clothing.
Jan. 12: A bike valued at $250 was stolen late at night from a bike rack outside Wymount Terrace 16A. The bike was locked up on a bike rack alongside the building.
Jan. 12: A student reported a textbook stolen from his backpack while he was studying in the library. The book is valued at $136.
Lost items
Jan. 12: A student forgot her purse in the Wilkinson Center. She found it gone when she returned to retrieve it. The purse contained her driver's license, ID, $40 in cash, a debit card and a wallet.
Burglary
Jan. 8: A female reported that her car was burglarized in the parking lot of Wymount Terrace. When she entered her vehicle, she discovered the front passenger door and glove box open. Papers were scattered on the passenger seat. A tire gauge and black leather pouch were stolen. The victim is not sure if her car was locked.
Disorderly Conduct
Jan. 9: Officers received a complaint about two males throwing snowballs at windows outside of Horne Hall. The offenders were gone by the time officers reached the scene.
Jan. 10: Officers discovered three skateboarders skating on the southwest side of LaVell Edwards Stadium. Two skateboarders were warned. The third skateboarder has a history of warnings and was issued a citation.
Traffic Incident
Jan. 10: Police responded to a call about an unidentified male on foot who intentionally ran into the left fender of a female student's vehicle. After slamming into the car, the man ran away yelling, "She hit me! She hit me!" By the time officers reached the scene, the male was gone.
Suspicious Activity
Jan. 9: Police received a call about people covering sidewalks with snow outside the McDonald's Building. The people were not BYU students and said they were making jumps for their snowboards so they could film themselves. Officers asked them to leave.
Business License Violation
Jan. 8: A student told police he was stopped by a man on Cannon Road who tried to sell him a stereo from the back of his trunk. Police talked with the salesman and found that the stereo was not stolen. Police asked the man to take his business elsewhere.
Tip of the week:
It's a good time of year to protect personal property. Don't leave it unattended. Make sure your vehicles are locked up. More importantly, make sure to protect your property on campus. Don't leave backpacks and laptops unattended.
