After picking up a big win at home against Boise State earlier this week, BYU will take on Idaho State and North Dakota this weekend in Provo.
“I hope and expect us to be playing our best,” BYU coach Gordon Eakin said.
BYU’s Monica Gonzales and Paige Affleck were named MWC player and pitcher of the week, respectively, after their performances in last week’s games. The Cougars will look to continue this success when they play Idaho State (9-14) Friday at Miller Park. The Bengals are led by Megan Miller, who bats .386 with 13 runs and 3 RBIs this season. Jessica Baca has hit four home runs for Idaho State.
On Saturday the Cougars will play back-to-back games against North Dakota. North Dakota comes in with a record of 3-20, with its only wins coming against Missouri-Kansas City, Wisconsin and Cal State-Bakersfield. After losing nine straight games, the Fighting Sioux came up with a win against Wisconsin on Wednesday, 4-2. North Dakota is led by Hannah-Rose Peter who hits .339, has 6 RBIs and has scored 5 runs on the season.
The Cougars are led by Andrea Ramirez, Jessica Purcell and Tiffany Messerschmidt. The team has hit 23 home runs on the season and has a batting average of .287. Cougar opponents are batting .205.
