Police Tip of the Week: Make sure to keep your eye on laptop computers and never leave valuable personal belongings unattended. If you see a suspicious person, please call the police.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

May 17: A young man was seen slashing at trees with a knife in Heritage Halls. Officers were unable to locate him upon arrival.

May 20: Someone noticed a deserted bag on the sidewalk south of the WSC and called police. The officers responded and found it was merely a student’s blue backpack. They identified the owner and returned the bag to the owner.

May 21: Four students were found in the JKB after hours. The officer asked them to leave.

May 21: A female transient was found eating red juniper berries on the east side of the Benson Building. She told officers she was looking for a place to live. They advised her not to eat the berries off the bushes.

THEFT

May 18: The laundry services in the Auxiliary Maintenance Building reported $50 stolen from the cash register. Suspects are unknown.

May 18: Two locked bikes were stolen from Wymount Terrace. The bikes are valued at $200 and $500.

May 19: An unlocked bike was stolen from Wymount Terrace. The bike is valued at $200.

May 19: A laptop computer was stolen from a faculty office in the TMCB. The laptop is valued at $1,200.

May 20: A student’s bike was stolen from Fugal Hall. He had locked his bike but found his lock, cut on the ground. The bike is valued at $100.

May 21: A registered bike was stolen from the JSB bike rack. The bike is valued at $500.

HARASSMENT

May 19: A male student reported persistent harassment from his former wife. He said his ex-wife has made no threats but that he is concerned and fears for his safety.

TRESPASSING

May 18: A male reportedly screamed and swore at a library employee. The male has been previously banned from university property so officers issued him a citation and escorted him off campus.

SKATEBOARDING

May 15: A 20-year-old male visitor was stopped by an officer on East Campus Drive. He was issued a misdemeanor citation for skateboarding.

May 20: A 29-year-old male subject was stopped at the WSC bus stop for skateboarding. As officers checked the individual’s record, they found a warrant out for his arrest. As they continued to search this individual they found possession of marijuana, a joint and other controlled substances such as morphine. He was arrested on second-degree felony and possession of drugs in a school drug-free zone.
