Criminal Mischief

May 28: A custodial worker reported finding an obscene phrase written on a stall in the ladies’ restroom on the second floor of the Wilkinson Student Center.


May 29: A custodial worker reported a broken partition between two urinals in the men’s restroom in the TMCB. There are no suspects.

 

Suspicious Activity

May 22: A suspicious bald male was seen yelling and acting confused at Wymount Terrace. Police located the individual and discovered he was a resident who was yelling because other people were yelling. No charges or citations were made.


May 22: A male and female were seen entering and exiting rooms in the Brimhall Building. When officers arrived they found the male and female were custodial workers taking inventory in each room.


May 24: The Provo Police Department received a concerned call of a girl screaming on Maeser Hill. When University Police arrived, they found no one suspicious on the hill.


May 25: A report came in about a large group of people playing music at the University Press Building around 10 p.m. Officers couldn’t find anything upon arrival.


May 27: A suspicious male was making people nervous at the base of the RB stairs around 10 p.m. The man was gone when an officer arrived.


May 28: A woman called police around 11 p.m. to report two suspicious men standing in the bushes just off the Y Mountain Trailhead. The men were gone when officers arrived.

 

Trespassing 

May 23: A male was issued his third citation for being on campus after he had previously been banned from all campus property.

 

May 25: A student was issued a misdemeanor citation for trespassing in the Dairy Lab construction site and for providing false information to an officer.

 

Disorderly Conduct 

May 22: A male was arguing with a parking officer in lot 26. The male was gone when a university police officer arrived.

 

Welfare Check 

May 28: An athlete was missing from the NCAA track at the Special Olympics but was found before officers arrived at the site.

 

Animal Problem 

May 22: Police received a phone call about a problem at the botany pond. Police arrived at the site and had to rescue two baby ducks who were stuck in the storm drain. The officers reunited the baby ducks with the mother duck.

 

Civil Dispute 

May 23: A former Wymount Terrace couple was reported to be harassing a current Wymount couple. The officers attempted to mediate between the disagreeing couples and told them to just leave each other alone.


May 24: A student reported an inappropriate note left at Helaman Halls by some participants in a BYU sports camp. The drawing contained a vulgar depiction with the student’s name included in the drawing. Officers mediated the situation and the children from the camp apologized to the offended student.


May 28: A female called to report that in February, a man had backed into her car in Lot 3. He had assured her he would pay for the damage so they didn’t need to call police to report the accident at the time. Now, three months later, the man refuses to pay the $950 in damages. Police cannot do much at this point in time.

 

Police Tip of the Week

Always call to report any type of traffic accident to police at the time it happens. This includes everything from a fender bender to a full-on accident.
